  • Siempelkamp offers several different matformer configurations to suit specific plant conditions and the desired board structure and appearance.

The traditional wind forming surface matformers use an air current in the wind forming chamber to separate the fine and coarse material fractions. The cage roll core matformer uses distribution rollers to divide the material flow into equal portions.

Siempelkamp has developed a new generation of mat formers for the production of particleboard. These mat formers are based on a disc roller system, which improves forming accuracy. The compact design of these mat formers allows new plants to be designed with minimal space requirements. This design, combined with improved operation efficiency, makes them ideal for retrofitting into older plants. The simple mat former design is easy to clean and maintain.

In both the surface and core mat forming machines, the particles are deposited onto a bed of rotating disc rolls. The particles are transported along the length of the forming head by the rotation of the disc rolls. By adjusting the speed of rotation and the distance between disc rolls, coarse and fine particles are separated. Oversized particles, which can not pass between the disc rolls, are removed by means of a reject conveyor at the end of the forming head, which provides protection for the ContiRoll® steel belts.

The effective fractionation of the particles makes a board with excellent surface quality and particle distribution.
