MINERAL BOARD INDUSTRY

  • OSB Forming Machines

  • Oriented strand matforming is decisive for the properties of OSB. Siempelkamp supplies optimum matformers for this task. The forming heads of the face layer machines orient lengthwise, with the flow of production. The working principle is that of a disc screen, where the strands can pass only parallel with the discs. Grading the distances between the discs results in an additional separating effect. This is normally used to place the biggest strands on the outsides of the board where the effect on the bending strength is highest. The forming heads are adjustable to influence the strictness of orientation.

In the core layer matfomers the strands pass over a bed of distribution rollers into the specially formed cells of rotating pocket rollers arranged crosswise. Separation is effected by the distribution rollers. The rotation of the pocket rollers corresponds with the speed of the forming belt, onto which the OSB mat is spread, in order to ensure optimal orientation.
